BENECOL

Aiming to create a line of food products that protect good health, in 2004, MINERVA joined forces with the Finnish company Raisio, by producing at their factory in Schimatari a series of spread products called Minerva Benecol. In April 2011, inspired by Greek nutritional habits, Minerva Benecol Lefko was created, a unique cheese product, made of 100% Greek goat’s milk that helps reduce cholesterol.

The Minerva Benecol products, thanks to the plant stanols they contain, reduce the high levels of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol up to 10% in 2-3 weeks.

Benecol products were first released in Finland in 1995 from Raisio and since then have reached the entire world. Over 70 clinical studies have proven the effectiveness of plant stanols in reducing cholesterol.

MINERVA Benecol MAX, the most effective stanol food for cholesterol lowering, also in olive oil flavor. It combines the balanced taste and velvety texture of Benecol with all the good elements, the purity and tradition of the MINERVA olive oil. Contains 30% more plant stanols, resulting in a 10-12.5% ​​reduction in cholesterol in 2-3 weeks, as part of a healthy diet. Use it in recipes, spreads, pastry. Suitable for all kinds of cooking, except what requires high temperatures – such as baking in the oven or frying.

Margarine Minerva Benecol Max is the most effective food, with plant stanols, to lower cholesterol. Contains 30% more plant stanols, achieving 10-12.5% ​​cholesterol reduction in 2-3 weeks, as part of a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Use it in recipes, spreads, pastry. Suitable for all types of cooking, except what requires high temperatures – such as baking in the oven or frying.

Minerva Benecol® classic flavor
Ideal product to spread on a slice of toast, bread or sandwich, melted atop boiled vegetables or baked potatoes and pasta, as well as, any kind of food in which you use margarine with low fat. Suitable for any kind of cooking and baking except for frying. However, similarly to other low fat spreads it cannot be used while cooking in high temperatures, such as baking in the oven or frying.

Minerva Benecol® with olive oil
Infused with the MINERVA olive oil, you may spread this Benecol margarine on a slice of bread, toast or your boiled vegetable, as well as, rice, pasta and mashed potatoes. However, similarly to other low fat spreads it cannot be used while cooking in high temperatures, such as baking in the oven or frying. This product is suitable for any kind of cooking or pastry making except for frying. Suitable for lent.

The new Greek suggestion for lowering of cholesterol.

  • Produced at MINERVA’s cheese production unit in Episkopiko, Ioannina
  • Has full flavor with only 12% fat
